GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Denison's history winning streak came to an end on Friday as DePauw swept the first two games of a four-game series at Walker Field. The Tigers walked off with a 4-3 win in game one before taking game two 13-6.

DePauw jumped out to an early lead with single runs in the first and fourth innings. The Big Red cut the deficit in half when Eric Zmuda led off the sixth with a home run to left field. Zack Wade rebuilt a two-run lead with a solo shot in the seventh. Junior Jack Blanchard, who doubled with two outs in the eighth, closed the gap to one after an error at short allowed Phil Papaioannou to reach safely.

Sam Frazen reached safely in the top of the ninth via throwing error and advanced to second on the bad throw. Frazen was quickly lifted in place of freshman Vince Walker. Joseph Maydwell successfully moved Walker to third with a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher. With runners now at the corners, senior Tucker Davison plated Walker with a SAC fly to right. The first three batters reached by way of a walk, hit by pitch and bunt single. After Ryan Grippo lined out to Brian McAuliffe for the first out, Jack Thompson brought the game to an end with a base hit to right that scored pinch runner CJ Yoannou.

Blanchard reached base three times which included two of Denison's five hits. Zmuda, Blanchard and Frazen all had extra-base knocks, while Flax swiped his 12th bag of the season. Connor Hanrahan (1-2) took the loss after allowing a run on two hits in the ninth. Starter Zack Huarte threw 6.1 innings of six-hit, three-run ball with four strikeouts and two walks.

In the finale, the Big Red took advantage of a walk, a hit by pitch and an error to build a 4-0 lead after a half inning. With runners at second and third, DePauw third baseman Yoannou tried to throw out Zmuda at the plate on a ground ball put in play by Tanner Johnson. However, an errant throw allowed Zmuda to score safely and Johnson to reach second base. With the bases loaded and two outs, junior Noah Hahn ripped a bases clearing double down the left line that plated Blanchard, Johnson and Frazen and gave Denison a 4-0 lead.

The Tigers shrunk the margin to two in the bottom of the first. In their next plate appearance, DePauw's Thompson blasted a three-run homer that gave the home team a 5-4 edge. Hahn evened the game at 5-5 in the third with a base hit through the right side that scored Johnson. The Tigers broke the tie in the fourth when Yoannou left the yard with one out before adding three insurance runs in the fifth frame.

Zmuda hit his second home run of the day to lead off the seventh, but a pair of runs in both the seventh and eighth set the final score of game number two. Perley Provost (3-2) took the loss after surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits in 4.2 innings of work. Hahn drove in four of the Big Red's five runs with two hits, while Zmuda had two hits, two runs and an RBI. Johnson also scored twice in game two.

Denison falls to 18-5 on the season and 4-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference West Division, while the Tigers are now 22-5 and 5-1 in divisional play. The two teams will wrap-up their four-game series on Saturday in Greencastle, Ind. Game one of the doubleheader is slated to start at 12 p.m.
