DELAWARE, Ohio—No. 27 Denison closed out its four-game series against Ohio Wesleyan with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday at Littick Field.  Denison won game one 5-3 and took game two, 22-10.

John Troll got the start in game one and pitched five innings, allowing only three hits without an earned run.  He exited with the game tied at 1-1.  In the top of the eighth, Denison loaded the bases and Noah Hahn cleared the bases with a double to left-center.  Ohio Wesleyan responded with two runs in the bottom half of the eighth but Denison still had a 4-3 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Jack Blanchard hit his first of what would be three home runs on the day over the wall in left-center, giving DU an insurance run and a 5-3 lead.

Danny Brackman pitched the sixth and seventh and got the win in relief.  Andrew Bruss worked the eighth and ninth for his second save of the season.  The loss went to OWU reliever Patrick Faley (0-2).  Evan Flax was 3-for-5 with one run scored and Brian McAuliffe was 2-for-3 with a walk.

In game two, Ohio Wesleyan took a 7-2 lead after three innings but Denison's bats came alive with six runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.  In fact, over the final six innings, DU put 20 runs on the board fueled in part by five Big Red home runs.

Blanchard and McAuliffe each left the yard twice in the nightcap.  Grady Paine also hit his first career home run in the fourth inning.

Blanchard was 4-for-4 with five RBIs, three runs scored and two walks.  Tucker Davison was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and McAuliffe went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs.  Nick Pettigrew also drove in four.  His bases loaded double to left resulted in Denison's final three runs.

Bruss earned the win by pitching 3.2 innings of relief. He didn't allow a run while scattering five hits.  Matthew Zmuda worked the eighth and ninth and gave up only one hit.

Ohio Wesleyan sent eight pitchers to the mound in game two.  Seth Pritchett (0-3) took the loss in relief of starter Justin Grubb.

Denison improves to 27-9 overall and 11-5 in the NCAC. The 27 victories ties last year's mark for third-highest win total in program history.  Their opponent in next weekend's crossover series will be announced once conference divisional play has concluded on Tuesday.  Those games will be played at Big Red Field in Granville.
