SALEM, Va.—Roanoke's Emilee Wooten scored the game-winning goal 1:39 into the first overtime to lead the Maroons to a 2-1 victory over Denison on Saturday afternoon at Kerr Stadium.

Wooten's game-winner was the only shot attempted in overtime.  She dribbled to the right side of the circle and sent a slap shot into the far side of the cage.

Overtime almost didn't happen.  Denison tied the match with just over one minute left in regulation when Caroline Little found Charlotte Happel for the equalizer.  The goal was the second of the season and the 29th in Happel's career.

The first goal of the contest was scored by Roanoke's Stacy Staley on a pass from Wooten nine minutes into the second half.

Denison held a 16-7 advantage in shots, but Roanoke goalie Emma Clark made it tough on the Big Red. She posted eight saves.  Her counterpart, Teya Adams, finished with four saves while facing six shots on goal.

The Maroons improve to 2-0 while Denison drops to 2-1.

The Big Red will try and bounce back on Sunday (Sept. 9) when they travel to Lexington, Virginia for a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament match with Washington and Lee.  That match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
