GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison never trailed and led by as many as 19 in the second half resulting in a 75-61 victory over the College of Wooster on Wednesday night at Livingston Gymnasium.

The Big Red jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first half behind three 3-pointers from Claude Chandonnet and one from Matt Doyle.  The Fighting Scots struggled to find any sort of offensive rhythm in the first half as they were just 9-for-29 (31 percent) while going 0-for-8 from beyond the arc.  A 7-0 run late in the first half was capped off by a Johnny Vernasco bucket in the paint which gave DU a 29-13 lead with 6:35 left in the first.

Denison took a 36-23 lead into the second half.  Just as they did in the first half, the Big Red were the aggressors out of the gate.  Chandonnet buried his fifth 3-pointer of the game seven seconds into the period.  Another Chandonnet triple with 16:11 left put Denison up 18.

Over a seven-minute period midway through the second half, Wooster went on a 17-7 run to make it a nine-point game with 7:04 remaining.  Denison responded immediately with a 7-0 run powered by four points from Conor Fenton and a 3-pointer from Jack Coulter.

Playing without leading scorer Maxwell Siwik, who sat out with the flu, Ghiloni turned to his bench, specifically first-year's Fenton and Jake Livingston who combined for 28 minutes, 12 points and six rebounds in their first extended playing time of their careers.

Chandonnet and Doyle led Denison with 18 points apiece.  All six of Chandonnet's field goals came from long range.  Doyle did his damage at the charity stripe, going 11-for-13 and 3-of-9 from the field. Vernasco led the way with seven rebounds and Garrett Collier added nine points, six assists and five rebounds.  Fenton reached double-figures with 10 points on 3-of-3 shooting.

Wooster was led by Reece Dupler's 14 points and eight rebounds.  Danyon Hempy added 11 points before fouling out in the closing minutes of the game.  He was 2-for-10 from the field.  Eric Bulic led all players with 13 rebounds.

Wooster was 4-for-24 on 3-point attempts (16.7 percent) and was 22-of-59 from the floor (37.3 percent).  Denison shot 42 percent from the field and was 10-of-25 from downtown (40 percent).  The Big Red also got out in transition, outscoring the Fighting Scots 12-0 on fast breaks.

Denison improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.  Wooster drops to 3-2 and 1-1 in the NCAC.  This is Denison's third win over the Fighting Scots in their last six meetings.  Up next, Denison travels to Gambier for a 3 p.m. tipoff against Kenyon College.
