NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Denison men's golf team placed second out of four teams at the 2017 Myrtle Beach Shootout held at Barefoot Resort and Golf Course on Wednesday.
All four of Denison's scorers fired an 80 at the one-round event. Senior Jonathan Taylor and sophomore Daniel Hirsh shot matching 36s on the front nine, while the best back-nine score came from sophomore Knox Montgomery. Freshman Christian Early provided the final 80 to round out the Big Red's scoring.
Rutgers-Camden won the event with a team score of 311, while Denison's 320 strokes were one more than third-place Manhattanville. Gettysburg rounded out the four-team field with 323 shots.
The Big Red will be back in action on April 1-2 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for the Strimer Memorial Invitational. The two-day event will take place at Oakhaven G.C.
