Denison men in third after first round at McDaniel

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa.– The Big Red men's golf team currently sits in third place out of 17 teams after day one of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic at The Bridges Golf Club. Denison posted a team score of 316 in the first round, only 10 strokes behind the host, McDaniel College, who finished Saturday's showing with a 306.

Leading the way for DU, sophomore Christian Early posted a first round 76 that currently puts him in a tie for fifth place. Nick Brodbeck finished the first round in a tie for 18th with a 79, while Connor Holleran wrapped up his first 18 holes with an 80, tying for 23rd overall.

Freshman Charlie Winkler finished only one stroke back of Holleran with a score of 81, while Robbie Whitman rounded out the team scoring with an 86.

Denison will return to The Bridges on Sunday, Oct. 1 for the final round of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic.
