Men’s Golf posts dual victory against Benedictine

WEST CHICAGO, Ill. -- Led by a career-best 69 from freshman Marc Mitchell, Denison men's golf tallied the top four scores to defeat Benedictine University of Illinois 291-330 on Sunday afternoon at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club's Lakewood Course in West Chicago, Ill.

Totaling a team score of three-over par (291), the Big Red were highlighted by Mitchell's three-under-par 69, which is tied for the third lowest per round score in program history.

Fellow freshman Ben Scherman followed in second place with a 73, trailing Mitchell by four strokes, and Nick Brodbeck finished one stroke back in third with a 74.

Rounding out the team scoring for DU was Connor Holleran in fourth place with his lone round score of 75, while Christian Early finished in a tie for sixth with a 79.

The Big Red will return to action next Sunday through Monday, October 21-22, to host the Virtues Fall Shoot Out at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
