GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison cruised into the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game, defeating the College of Wooster, 21-3 on Wednesday night at Piper Stadium.  This is the fifth year of existence for the NCAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament and for the fifth-straight year, Denison and Ohio Wesleyan will meet in the title game.

On April 12 in Wooster, it took a strong second half from the Big Red to pull away for the eventual 17-6 win.  There were no second half heroics needed on this night.  Denison led 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second, they ran away from the Scots, outscoring them 7-1 while outshooting them 28-4.  The Big Red took 8-of-9 faceoffs in the second quarter and wore out the Fighting Scot defense.  Wooster goalie Wesley Wagner made seven saves in the period but it wasn't enough to stop DU's offensive barrage.

In the second, Denison got two goals from Will Donohue, two from Jake Waxter and one goal apiece from Alex Paulus, Liam Rooney and Spencer Butler.

Denison entered the game with the nation's top extra-man offensive and percentage continued to rise as they went 4-for-6 when man-up.  Three power play goals came in the third quarter from Butler, Peter Pittroff and Brooks Davy

On Davy's man-up goal in the third, Rooney became the NCAC's career leader in assists, passing Rob Alvino of Ohio Wesleyan.  Alvino held the record since 1988.  In 63 career games, Rooney has totaled 139 assists and 250 points in his career.  He needs three points to become Denison's single-season leader and seven to become Denison's career leader.  Andy John '84 holds both records.

Henry DeCamp was 17-for-20 facing off. He led all players with nine ground balls.  Josh Happ had five ground balls and Ben Duhoski had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.  Stephen Paras posted six saves while playing the first three quarters.

Wooster's season comes to an end with a 9-9 record.  Denison improves to 14-1. Their 14-game winning streak is the third-longest in program history.

Saturday's championship game will begin at 1 p.m. at Piper Stadium in Granville.  Live video will be provided by the Denison Sports Network starting at 12:45 p.m.
