GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Senior attackman Liam Rooney and junior defenseman Ben Duhoski were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year for the West Region by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association.  Both were also named to the IMLCA's All-American first-team.

Rooney and Duhoski, who were also named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year in the North Coast Athletic Conference, helped lead the Big Red to one of their most successful seasons in program history.  The 2017 squad finished the year with an 18-2 record and was ranked third in the final Lacrosse Magazine Division III Top-20 poll.  Denison advanced to the Final Four for the third time, falling 12-11 to eventual national champion, Salisbury, in the semifinals.

Rooney led all of Division III lacrosse in assists (88) and broke varsity records for assists in a season, points in a season (126), career assists (162) and career points (282).  He leaves Denison with NCAC records for assists in a season, career assists and points in a season.  His 88 assists are the third-most in a season in Division III history.

Duhoski led the DU defense that gave up only 7.07 goals per game in 2017.  He was second on the team in caused turnovers (34) and was fourth in ground balls (51).  Duhoski also scored a career-high five goals and had one assist on only seven shot attempts.  Duhoski and Rooney were also named second-team All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
