GRANVILLE, Ohio – Denison men's soccer played to a 0-0 tie with the College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon at Barclay-Thomsen Field.
After both teams totaled four shots each in the first half, the Big Red appeared to take a 1-0 lead early in the second half off the boot of junior David Jaben. However, an offside violation was called on Denison and the goal was negated allowing the two squads to remain deadlocked at 0-0.
Denison stayed aggressive in the second half, outshooting Wooster 8-7, including Will Rudolph's attempted shot in the 79th minute that just missed the net off the left-side goalpost.
In the first overtime, the Big Red took four consecutive shots to open extra time. The last of the group came from freshman Lucas Lilley in the 95th minute when he slipped past Wooster's goalkeeper Will Collis and just missed an attempt at the net, wide right.
The match remained scoreless after 100 minutes of play and while both sides continued to find good shots, neither side could connect, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
In goal for the Big Red, senior Jack Thomas recorded his fifth shutout of the season after a five-save performance in 110 minutes of play. For Wooster, Collis kept his clean sheet intact with three saves in 110 minutes.
The Big Red returns to Barclay-Thomsen Field on Wednesday, Oct. 25 when they entertain Hiram College at 7 p.m.
