GRANVILLE, Ohio -- After playing their first two matches of the season on the road, Denison men's tennis returned to Granville on Saturday as they defeated No. 28 Kalamazoo College, 6-3, in their home-opener at DU's Mitchell Fieldhouse.

The Big Red were led by the freshmen pair of Vlad Rotnov and Brian Weisberg who teamed up in No. 3 doubles to defeat Kalamazoo's Zack Ray and Elan Dantus, 8-4. They also earned wins in singles play as Rotnov took down Daniel Henry, 6-3, 6-4, and Weisberg edged a 7-5 win in the first set of No. 6 singles, before taking the match in the next set, 6-0.

Denison added their second win on the doubles courts when the No. 2 combo of Mitchell Thai and Patrick McGuigan posted an 8-5 defeat over Kalamazoo's Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado and Allen Vinson. The Hornets, however, did get the best of the Big Red in No. 1 doubles with Henry and Tytus Metzler defeating Kevin Brown and Jamie McDonald, 8-6.

In singles action, Brown and McDonald found redemption from their doubles loss when McDonald earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dantus in No. 3 play and Brown stormed past Vinson, 6-3, 6-2, on the No. 4 courts.

The Big Red will return to the Mitchell Fieldhouse this coming Wednesday, March 7 when they host the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University at 4:30 p.m.
