Salukombo qualifies for Olympic Trials

On Jan. 3, Denison graduate Dee Salukombo '12 qualified for the 2016 United States Olympic Trials in the marathon after an outstanding performance in Jacksonville, Fla.

Salukombo posted a time of 1:04:25 at the Jacksonville Bank Half Marathon, which was 35 seconds under the US Olympic qualifying standard of 1:05:00.

Salukombo was a six-time All-American at Denison in the sports of cross country and track and field from 2008-12.  He was a three-time North Coast Athletic Conference Runner of the Year.  Salukombo's humanitarian efforts have been well documented since his graduation from Denison. He currently serves as the founder of Project Kirotshe where he is dedicated to providing opportunities for education and athletics to children in the DR Congo.

The US Olympic Trails will take place in Los Angeles on Feb. 13.
