The Big Red men's track and field team finished eighth at the Kenyon College Classic on Saturday after totaling 30 points.
Freshman Jorge De La Torre and sophomore Zach Munn paced Denison with runner-up performances in their respective events. De La Torre was second in the 5,000-meter run after clocking in at 16:38.38, while classmate Jack Marchetti placed fifth in the event at 17:15.43. Munn was runner-up in the 800 after posting a time of 2:01.74.
Senior sprinter Quenton Richards placed fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.18, while freshman Isaac Reed posted two PR times in the 60 hurdles. After finishing fourth in the prelims with a time of 9.18, Reed came back with a time of 9.10 that landed him in sixth place in the event.
The Big Red rounded out the scoring eighth-place showings in the 3,000 and 4x400 relay. Sophomore Jeremy Bloomfield checked in with a time of 9:31.13 in the 3K, while the foursome of Michael Bonebrake, Munn, Lucas Romick and Richards turned in a time of 3:59.78.
Mount Vernon Nazarene won the event with 127 points followed by Ohio Wesleyan with 93 tallies. Wooster (79), Waynesburg (75) and Westminster (71) rounded out the top-5 in the team standings.
The Big Red returns to action on Friday (Feb. 26) when they host their annual Last Chance Meet. Event are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
