GRANVILLE, Ohio -- In the first stage of the North Coast Athletic Conference's Indoor Track and Field Championships, sophomore James Dixie represented the Big Red program this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25, in the Men's Heptathlon hosted at Denison University's Mitchell Fieldhouse.

Placing seventh overall out of 12 competitors, Dixie earned his best finishes in the long jump and pole vault events. Setting a new personal record in the long jump, Dixie finished in fourth place with a jump of 19'5.50" (5.93 meters). He also placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing a new PR height of 9'8" (2.95 meters), as well as the high jump with a jump of 5'6.50" (1.69 meters).

Garnering a total of 3,724 points over the two-day competition, Dixie also logged an eighth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.38, and a pair ninth-place marks in the shot put (30' 8.50") and the 1,000-meter run (3:12.68).

Dixie will join the Denison men's track and field program next Friday through Saturday, March 2-3, as they travel to Wabash College to compete in the remaining portion of the 2018 NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
