APOLLO, Pa.—Denison women's golf posted its first victory of the season on Sunday by placing first out of eight teams at the Carnegie Mellon Fall Shootout at the Links at Spring Church.

The Big Red was led by sophomore Emmy Timberlake who fired a career-low 77 which landed her in a tie for second place in the overall standings.  After 18 holes, Timberlake was tied with Carlow's Natale Abt at 160.  Carlow and Timberlake went into a playoff to determine the medalist runner-up and Timberlake prevailed on the first hole to leave Pennsylvania with some hardware.

Following one stroke behind Timberlake in the standings was Lauren Danielson.  She led Denison on Saturday with an 82 and returned with a 79 on Sunday to finish in fourth place out of 43 golfers.  Checking in third for Denison was Sophie Kollin who tallied rounds of 85 and 81 to log a top-10 overall finish.

First-year Megan Wong provided Denison's fourth score on Sunday. She improved three strokes over her opening round to shoot an 83 in the final round.  The scoring was rounded out by sophomore Nicole Wetoska who carded an 89.

Denison ended with a team total of 656.  Second place went to North Coast Athletic Conference rival Allegheny College at 668.  Alvernia placed third at 676 and Carnegie Mellon took fourth at 682.  St. Vincent (734), Westminster (741), Point Park (757) and Washington & Jefferson (783) rounded out the standings.

The Big Red will travel to Danville, Indiana next weekend (Sept. 23-24) for the Dan Quayle Classic hosted by DePauw University at Twin Bridges Golf Club.
