SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-- Emmy Timberlake's final round 76 helped Denison to a fifth-place finish at the 12-team Pat Clouse Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University at Springfield Country Club.
The Big Red ended with a 36-hole team total of 658, trailing fourth-place Ohio Dominican University by eight strokes. DePauw placed third at 641 and the runner-up trophy went to Washington-St. Louis who finished at 621. The team championship went to the host, Tigers who posted scores of 314 and 303 for a 617.
After a 78 in Saturday's opening round, Timberlake returned with a 76 on Sunday which tied for the fourth-lowest score of the day. Timberlake posted a 39 on the front nine and after birdies on the par-4 15th and the par-5 17th, she was sitting at one-under-par on the back nine. On 18, Timberlake carded her first double bogey of the day and only her second of the tournament to sign for a 76. Her two-day total of 154 placed her third out of 80 entries.
Sophie Kollin logged her second top-10 finish of the season after recorded rounds of 81 and 77 (158). That landed her in a four-way tie for sixth place. Kollin's round on Sunday was highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole.
Megan Wong and Lauren Danielson tied for 35th overall at 136. Wong fired an 87 on Sunday while Danielson posted an 88. The Big Red's fifth score on Sunday came from Nicole Wetoska who matched Danielson's 88.
The Big Red also had four individual entries at the tournament. Olivia Crowley and Moe Madar tied for 49th place at 178. Ellie Broker posted a two-round total of 180 (84, 96) and Julia Giordano totaled a 201 (105, 96).
Denison will close out the fall season on Oct. 15-16 at the NCAC Preview in Mansfield, Ohio.
