MANSFIELD, Ohio-- The Big Red women's golf team held firm in third place at the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship at Westbrook Country Club. Despite tougher weather conditions, Denison dropped seven strokes off its opening round score. They shot posted a team total of 348 on Saturday and enter Sunday's final round 17 strokes in front of fourth-place Wooster.
DePauw is in first place with 643 and Wittenberg is right behind at 645. Ohio Wesleyan sits in fifth at 743 while Allegheny is sixth at 826.
Emmy Timberlake led Denison with an 80 and is currently tied for third place on the leaderboard at 162 (82,80). Timberlake's round on Saturday featured 12 pars and six bogeys highlighted by five-straight pars to end the round.
Megan Wong bounced back with an 83 after a 94 to open the tournament. She posted a 40 on the front and a 43 on the back nine. Sophie Kollin followed with an 88 and Lauren Danielson posted the Big Red's fourth score with a 97.
Denison will close out the 2018 NCAC Championship on Sunday at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield, Ohio.
