Carol Allen scored the game-winning goal with 3:22 remaining.

Carol Allen scored the go-ahead goal with 3:22 left in the second half and that would be enough to carry Denison to an 11-10 victory over Colorado College from a snowy Piper Stadium.

In a contest that featured eight lead changes, eight yellow cards and 57 fouls, it was the Big Red who would pull off a late rally to squeeze out its second win of the season.

DU held a 5-4 lead at the half but the Tigers opened the second half by scoring three goals in the first five minutes of play, to take a 7-5 lead.  The Big Red would respond with a three-goal run fueled by an Erin Keller 8-meter tally, and goals from Elsie Humes and Margaret Iglar.

Free-position attempts were plentiful and Colorado College made the most of them, scoring four of its 10 goals in those situations.  Their biggest free position goal came with 14:35 to play when Anna Crosby scored the first of what would be three goals over a seven minute span.

The first Crosby goal tied the game at 8-8.  The two teams would not score over the next five minutes of play, but with 9:35 to play, Allen found Keller for her second goal of the day, making it 9-8 in favor of DU.

The Tigers would respond with two straight goals by Crosby, resulting in a 10-9 lead for the visitors.  DU would take the ensuing draw and Keller would score off a pass from Molly Chapman just 37 seconds after Colorado College's 10th goal.

Now tied at 10-10, Keller's goal would set the stage for Allen's first career-goal and eventual game-winner.  Denison would win the draw that followed Allen's goal and DU would effectively run out the clock over the final 3:22, never allowing the opposition to regain possession.

Keller stuffed the stat sheet with seven draw controls, three ground balls, three goals, and two caused turnovers.  Chapman led the offense with three goals and two assists off five shot attempts. Allen followed with one goal and two assists.  Lauren Adams paced the defense with three caused turnovers.  She also added three ground balls and two draw controls.  As a team, the Big Red won the draw control battle 14-9, thanks to five by Katherine Palms.

DU also outshot the Tigers, 30-23 but Colorado College goalie Abby Fink kept her team in the game with a 14 save performance in her 60 minutes of action.  Denison goalie Grace Bodenmann finished with seven saves while playing all 60 minutes.

The win improves Denison's record to 2-0 while Colorado College falls to 0-2 on the season.  Denison's next game will be played in Clermont, Fla. against Skidmore on March 12 at 2 p.m.
