Big Red efficient in win over Yeowomen

Denison scored the first seven goals of the game and 10 of the first 12 en route to a 16-7 victory over Oberlin College from Fred Shults Field in Oberlin, Ohio.  The win keeps Denison unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Current NCAC Athlete of the Week, Molly Chapman, continued her impressive passing display from the weekend as she followed up Saturday's seven-assist performance with a three-goal, four-assist outing against the Yeowomen.

Three of Chapman's four assists came in the first half during Denison's opening surge and nine players would account for the Big Red's 16 goals.

Chapman and Erin Keller led the way with three goals apiece.  Keller also added one assist, four ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.  Chapman paced Denison with seven points to go along with one ground ball.

Sophomore Whitney Powel scored two goals and one assist while leading the squad with six draw controls.  Isabel Swicklik matched Keller with four ground balls and Grace Bodenmann posted nine saves while playing 45 minutes in the cage.

Oberlin outshot Denison 24-21, but the Big Red was efficient, scoring 16 goals on its 24 scoring attempts.  Oberlin was led in scoring by Kate Hanick with three goals and one assist.  Madeleine O'Meara recorded two saves in her 60 minutes of action.

Denison will put its 7-0 record on the line against Sewanee this Saturday (April 6) at 12 p.m. in Granville.  Sewanee is 9-4 and brings a five-game winning streak into Saturday's contest.
