The Big Red women's lacrosse team landed seven athletes on the 2017 All-North Coast Athletic Conference team, highlighted by senior Claire Ludlow being selected NCAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Ludlow, who is making her second-straight appearance on the first team, was named Offensive Player of the Year after finishing the eight-game conference slate with 39 points (23 goals, 16 assists). The senior attack, who is a four-time all-conference honoree, netted a hat trick in four of the eight league contests this season, highlighted by a five-goal, one-assist effort in a 19-13 victory over Wittenberg on April 1. Her highest point production of the season game in a clash with Allegheny where she recorded seven points (4 goals, 3 assists). Ludlow also had 21 draw controls, nine caused turnovers and nine ground balls in those eight NCAC games.

Joining Ludlow on the first team were senior midfielder Reid Hirschey and sophomore defender Jane Goodspeed. Hirschey, a second-team all-league pick in 2015, elevated to the first team after scoring 20 goals and handing out two assists in conference play. She also scooped up 14 ground balls and forced eight turnovers. Goodspeed, last year's NCAC Newcomer of the Year, picked up her second-consecutive first-team All-NCAC honor leading DU with 31 draw controls, 22 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers in eight league matchups.

Juniors Leah Israel and Grace Gavula both earned second-team all-conference honors for the second year in a row, while Kiely Noonan and Claudia Rafi made their respective debuts on the All-NCAC squad. Israel stuffed the stat sheet in the seven conference games she saw action in this year. The junior midfielder racked up 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists), collected 11 ground balls, controlled 22 draws and forced seven takeaways. Gavula also played in seven league contests, grabbing 11 ground balls and forcing six turnovers as a defender.

Noonan thrived in her first season with the Big Red, scoring a team-high 27 goals in conference play to go along with five assists. The freshman attack corralled 14 ground balls, had 12 draw controls and caused seven turnovers. Rafi followed Noonan in the goal-scoring department, finding the back of the net 24 times while adding seven helpers.

The Big Red will be back in action on Sunday (May 14) as they make their fourth-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Denison will host 19th-ranked Brockport State at 1 p.m. in Granville.
