GRANVILLE, Ohio -- In an effort to secure their fourth-straight victory of the season, Denison women's tennis tallied a 7-2 defeat of the NAIA's No. 7 ranked University of Northwestern Ohio on Thursday evening at DU's Mitchell Fieldhouse.

The Big Red's success started on the doubles courts as juniors Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup improved their doubles record to 6-3 on the season after they marched past UNOH's Valeriya Kolegova and Frederique Span, 8-3, in No. 1 action. No. 2 doubles play also belonged to Denison as the combo of Megan Hickey and Ashley Hammons added an 8-4 victory over Camila Puente and Gabriela Eva.

The final doubles match of the evening was awarded to Madeline Hart and Charlotte Purnode following a forfeit by the Racers.

In singles play, the Big Red locked down the team victory after Hawley chalked up a 6-3, 6-3 win in No. 1 singles over Puente, and Hammons took the No. 4 match 6-4, 6-2 over Gabriela Eva. Kolegova and Span were able to add two wins for the Racers on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts, but a pair of UNOH forfeits in the final two matches of the night helped Denison go to 5-4 so far on the season.

The Big Red will return to action next Monday, March 19 when they travel to Orlando, Florida to start their spring break trip with D-I Towson University at 3:30 p.m.
