Indianapolis, Ind. – Denison women's tennis has advanced to the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship match after edging Oberlin College, 5-3, in semifinal play on Saturday afternoon at the Wynne Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Ind.

In doubles play, the Big Red got off to a hot start when the top-flight pair of Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup posted an 8-2 win over Oberlin's Sarah Hughes and Mayada Audeh, while Megan Hickey and Ashley Hammons followed with a 9-7 win over Rainie Heck and Delaney Black in No. 2 play.

The Yeowomen cut the doubles deficit to 2-1 after Jackie McDermott and Lena Rich took No. 3 doubles from Courtney Brown and Madeline Hart, 8-3.

On the singles courts, Oberlin tied the match at 2-2 when Audeh defeated Alsup, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 on the No. 2 court, but the Big Red rebounded in the following two matches with Hickey garnering the No. 3 singles win over Heck (7-5, 6-4) and Hart defeating McDermott in No. 4 singles, 7-5, 6-3.

Oberlin cut the DU lead to 4-3 after Black tallied a 6-2, 6-3 win on the No. 5 court, but Charlotte Purnode erased all doubt for the Big Red when she posted a 6-3, 7-5 defeat of OC's Rich in No. 6 singles to punch Denison's ticket to the championship match.

The Big Red will square off with No. 1 seeded Kenyon College for the NCAC title on Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m. at the Wynne Tennis Center.
