GRANVILLE, Ohio – Led by six personal records and seven top-five finishes, Denison women's track and field competed on Friday night, hosting the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference's Last Chance Meet at DU's Mitchell Fieldhouse.
Headlining the Big Red finishes was senior Hannah Hall who won the women's high jump event with a height of 5'3" (1.60 meters). She was followed by freshman Danni Gutelius with a 4'9" (1.45 meters) who tied for third-place. Gutelius also placed 13th in the 200-meter dash, clocking in a 29.67.
Garnering two of their five personal-bests in the field events, Anna Vrancken posted a new PR in the shot put, finishing second with a distance of 36'3.50" (11.06 meters). The sixth-place finisher, Maddy Uible, also set a new personal record, logging a 33'1" (10.08 meters). Vrancken also added a finish in 10th place in the weight throw, reaching a distance of 31'3.25".
In the pole vault, Mackenzie Mason placed fifth with a new season and personal-best of 9'11.25" (3.03 meters).
On the track, Erin O'Connor and Sydney Chandler also totaled a pair of fifth-place finishes with O'Connor clocking a fifth-place time of 5:38.55 in the mile run, and Chandler logging a PR time of 1:05.29 in the 400-meter event.
In the 800-meter run, freshman Molly Smith set a new personal-best with a fourth-place finish of 2:28.00, landing ahead of Phoebe Osterhout's time of 2:33.21 in eighth-place. Sydney Lerda trailed the pair in 11th place with a 2:37.56.
Denison will return to Mitchell Fieldhouse this Sunday, Feb. 25 for the NCAC Combined Events Championship. Senior Jessica Nix will be representing the Big Red in the Pentathlon event.
