HIRAM, Ohio--  Hiram College handed Denison a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 27-25) defeat on Saturday at Price Gymnasium.  The Terriers got 16 kills from Kayla Cole en route to the straight-sets win.

Trailing 2-0 entering the third set, the Big Red battled back from a 7-2 deficit to take a 17-15 lead after an attacking error on an attempt by Hiram's Kiara Franks.  Errors plagued the Terriers throughout the third set as they hit a match-low .192 in the final set.  On the other side, Denison struggled to slam the door.  Sitting at set-point leading 25-24 after a kill by Denison's Katie Aucamp, Hiram responded with three-straight points on kills by Madison Fortune and two by Cole to close out the match.

Alex Tubbs led Denison with eight kills and four blocks.  Emma Woerner posted seven kills, eight digs, and four blocks while Aucamp followed with six kills and five digs.  Marija Pavlick led the defense with 10 digs and Julia Miller tallied 24 assists.  First-year Payton McElfresh contributed five kills while hitting .294.

Hiram setter Holly Hoffman posted 35 assists and 13 digs while Walker and Franks followed with nine kills apiece.

Denison's record dips to 5-9 and 0-2 in the NCAC while Hiram improves to 13-1 and 2-0 in conference play.  The Big Red returns to Granville on Tuesday to face Ohio Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
