GRANVILLE, Ohio—The 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championship got underway with finals in the men's and women's 800 freestyle relay and the women's 3-meter dive.
For the third straight year, Allison Fitzgerald won the women's 3-meter dive headlining a trio of Big Red divers who held down the top three spots in the final standings. Fitzgerald led the field of 16 divers after preliminaries and ended finals with an 11-dive score of 443.20. Senior Emma Weber was second with a 430.80. This is the fourth consecutive runner-up finish on the 3-meter board for Weber. Checking in third was Naomi Clayton who was right behind Weber at 429.50.
Denison placed second in the men's 800 freestyle relay as Matt McHugh, Piotr Kurleto, Nick Froemming and Ryan Stevenson touched in 6:37.86. That time was a season-best 'B' cut for the Big Red foursome.
Through one event on the men's side, Denison is in second place with 62 points. Through two events on the women's side, the Big Red has a 14-point lead with 158 total points.
