NEW ORLEANS – Denison cross country was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Friday afternoon with multiple Division III All-Academic awards, including senior Erin O'Connor and junior Adam Cromwell with individual honors and the women's program as an All-Academic team.
Making his second-straight appearance on the USTFCCCA All-Academic squad, Cromwell recently wrapped up a successful junior campaign where he was named first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference following a fourth-place finish at the 2019 NCAC Championship (26:02.7).
Leading the Big Red in their final three races of the season, Cromwell earned All-Academic recognition after posting a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and finishing in the top 25 percent of the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet with a 47th place finish at 25:12.01. A native of Fort London, Pa., Cromwell is majoring in international studies while minoring in Spanish.
O'Connor makes her All-Academic debut following a senior season where she led the Big Red in their last three meets of the season, including a 35th place finish at the 2019 NCAC Championship (24:19.2). Named to the NCAC Academic Honor Roll in 2018-19, O'Connor joined this year's All-Academic team following a 58th place finishing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet (22:57.2).
A native of Bethesda, Md., O'Connor is double majoring in educational studies and psychology while minoring classical studies.
For the team recognition, the Big Red women's cross country team was among 212 teams to be honored by the USTFCCCA that have competed at an NCAA Regional meet and have compiled a team grade-point average of 3.10 or higher.
Finishing with a team GPA of 3.15, Denison women's cross country closed out the 2019 season with four finishes in the top-10.
