GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Denison University is ranked No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball News' 2020 Division III preseason top-40 poll that was released on Dec. 17.
Denison is coming off a record-setting season in 2019 which saw them win a program-best 39 games while capturing the program's first-ever NCAC Tournament Championship. The Big Red advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second-straight year and head coach Mike Deegan became the program's all-time leader in victories in only his seventh season at the helm.
Denison returns All-American and NCAC Player of the Year Will Krushena along with all-region performers Brian McAuliffe, Max Lahn and Ty Robinson in 2020. Krushena batted .374 with 69 RBI, 21 doubles and 46 runs scored. All four were first-team all-conference selections.
The Big Red will open the season on Saturday, Feb. 29 with a doubleheader against Transylvania in Lexington, Kentucky. Opening Day at Big Red Field is slated for Tuesday, March 10 against Otterbein.
