GRANVILLE, Ohio-- DePauw's Rose Revolinski and Riley Bruce accounted for three goals and four assists as the Tigers handed Denison a 4-1 defeat in the opening game of the North Coast Athletic Conference schedule.
The Big Red trailed 2-0 at the half after nearly identical set pieces. The first goal came from Bruce via an insertion by Revolinski in the 22nd minute on the Tigers' first penalty corner of the match.
With 19 seconds remaining in the half, Bruce sent a pass to Revolinski who finished with a shot that was deflected by DU keeper Kerry Lawler into the back of the cage.
The Big Red cut the deficit to one, five minutes into the second half when Caroline Little scored from just inside the circle.
Less than two minutes later, the Tigers were awarded another penalty corner and once again, the tandem of Bruce and Revolinski finished things off, giving DePauw a 3-1 advantage.
The final goal of the match came in the 50th minute when Reilly slipped a pass up the middle to Tori Wittemann who finished in front of the goal.
Revolinski finished with two goals and one assist while Bruce added one goal and three assists.
The final score did not end up in Denison's favor but it wasn't for lack of opportunities. Possession was controlled primarily by the Big Red throughout the match and DU had 16 penalty corner attempts compared to only five for the Tigers.
Shots were also decidedly in favor of Denison as they won the category 18-8. Teya Adams played the second half in goal for Denison and finished with two saves in 35 minutes. The victory went to DePauw's Sarah Foye who made five saves in 70 minutes.
The Big Red will look to rebound on Sunday, Sept. 10 when they take on Washington and Lee at 11 a.m. at Piper Stadium.
