GRANVILLE, Ohio--  Fueled by four second half goals the Denison Big Red recorded a 6-0 victory over Allegheny College on Saturday at Piper Stadium.  With the win, Denison improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

DU got on the scoreboard in the sixth minute of play when Denison's Charlotte Godfrey scored on a deflection after a defensive save by Kierstin Faw on a shot attempt by Maya Tumiwa.

That goal stood until the waning minutes of the second quarter when Godfrey got out in transition and crossed to Madeleine Hunt who finished for her third goal of the season.

In the third quarter, Denison drew a penalty stroke after a near goal by Abby Scully. Tumiwa took the stroke and converted to give DU a 3-0 lead.

In the 40th minute of play, Hunt found the back of the cage once again after an assist by Godfrey.  With 90 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Tumiwa took a shot inside the circle that deflected off a Gator defender and into the goal. It was her second goal of the day and her fourth of the season.

Denison's final goal of the afternoon came in the 54th minute when Meg Baylis scored on a feed from Charlotte Happel.

The Big Red outshot Allegheny 38-2 and won the penalty corner battle 18-1.  Hallie Reiger got the start in goal for the Gators and finished with 10 saves and two goals allowed in 30 minutes.  Heather Amancio played the second half and made six saves while allowing four goals.  For Denison, Teya Adams played the first half and made one save.  Kerry Lawler finished out the final 30 minutes in the cage.

Tumiwa led DU with 10 shots, two goals, and one assist.  Godfrey followed with seven shots, one goal and two helpers.  Hunt scored twice on four shots and Baylis scored on her only shot attempt.

Prior to the game, Denison honored its three seniors, Ali Gakenheimer, Charlotte Happel and Caroline Little.  The trio has won 59 matches in their four years, highlighted by two NCAC championships and two appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Big Red will travel to Richmond, Indiana on Wednesday (Oct. 23) to take on Earlham College at 4:30 p.m.
