HIRAM, Ohio-- Jalen Kirksey scored 26 points and added eight rebounds to lead Hiram to a 76-64 win over Denison on Wednesday night at Price Gym.
With the score tied 29-29 at halftime, Hiram outscored the Big Red 47-35 in the second half powered by 22 second half points from Kirksey. The junior who is averaging 21.2 ppg this season, was 14-of-14 from the free throw line in the second half.
Denison shot 40 percent from the field and were 9-of-23 (.391) from 3-point range. Matt Gerics led Denison with 21 points and six rebounds. He was 6-of-11 from the field and 5-of-6 from long range. Fred Brou and Freeman Brou both scored eight points and Fred Brou matched Gerics with six rebounds.
Antonio McQueen chipped in 16 points for the Terriers who improve to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Denison (2-4, 0-1 NCAC) will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Kenyon. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
