Denison to play Ohio State at Ohio Machine Fall Classic

Denison participates in Ohio Machine Fall Classic

GRANVILLE, Ohio--  Denison's annual fall men's lacrosse scrimmage will take on a different flavor this year.  Denison is one of four local teams invited to the second annual Ohio Machine Fall Classic on Sunday, October 7, joining Ohio State, Capital and Wheeling Jesuit.

A quintuple-header of exhibition games are slated throughout the day with a free youth skills clinic set to take place at 10:30 a.m.  The skills clinic is open to youth (8th grade and under). Registration can be found here.

Games will take place at Fortress-Obetz (the home of the Ohio Machine).  The Big Red will take on Wheeling Jesuit at 10:30 a.m. on the grass field adjacent to Fortress-Obetz since the stadium will be occupied by the youth skills clinic.

The Ohio Machine will play Ohio State at noon and the Big Red will return to the field to take on the Buckeyes at 2 p.m.  Denison's day will conclude at 3 p.m. when they scrimmage Capital University.

Tickets to the Fall Classic are $5 for adults. Children 8th grade and under will be admitted free of charge.  A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Ohio Machine Lacrosse Foundation.  In addition, BSN Sports will provide all fans with a giveaway item upon entry to Fortress Obetz.

Denison men's lacrosse has won 65 games over the last four seasons and has been a national title contender in each of those seasons.  The Big Red fell one goal short of a trip to the national championship game in 2017 and last year, Denison was ranked as high as No. 2 in the Division III Top-20 poll.

Veteran head coach Mike Caravana returns to the helm for his 26th season at Denison.  One of the winningest active coaches in all of collegiate lacrosse, Caravana boasts a career record of 290-93 (.757).  Denison men's lacrosse has made 23 trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament with 14 appearances in the Elite Eight.
