Butler, DeCamp, and Waxter to play in Senior All-Star Game

(L-R) Henry DeCamp, Spencer Butler, Jake Waxter
(L-R) Henry DeCamp, Spencer Butler, Jake Waxter

GRANVILLE, Ohio--  Denison University will be represented by three players in Friday's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Senior All-Star Game sponsored by Warrior.  Spencer Butler, Henry DeCamp and Jake Waxter will suit up for the South squad in the Division III game scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.

Butler leaves Denison ranked second in career goals scored with 185, just four shy of the record of 189 held by Brady Burton since 2010.  Butler played only three seasons at Denison and posted seasons of 65 goals (2017), 55 goals (2018) and 65 goals (2019) at DU.  He also totaled 57 assists after a career-high 22 assists this season.  He is a two-time first-team All-NCAC selection and was named the conference's Newcomer of the Year in 2017.

Waxter is a two-time All-American and three-time first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection who posted a career-high 37 goals and 22 assists in 2019.  In 81 career games, Waxter leaves Denison with 110 goals, 64 assists, and 98 ground balls.

DeCamp has been Denison's starting faceoff specialist since 2017. He leaves DU as the program's all-time leader in ground balls (403) and faceoff wins (755). He won 65 percent of his faceoffs attempted in his career.  He is a three-time NCAC Specialist of the Year and was a USILA All-American in 2018. DeCamp suffered a serious injury midway through his senior season and returned for the final regular season game against Ohio Wesleyan to lead Denison into the stretch run of the postseason.

Since 2014, Denison has posted one of the best winning percentages in all of Division III lacrosse, going 102-16 with four-seasons with 18 or more wins.  Denison has qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament 24 times and has three Final Four appearances and 15 Elite Eight appearances since 1982.

Admission to the Division III North-South game is free of charge.
