GRANVILLE, Ohio--  Otterbein's Erick Juarez-Manning scored in the fifth minute and that proved to be enough to send the Cardinals to a 1-0 win over the Denison men's soccer team on Saturday night at Barclay-Thomsen Field.

Otterbein's goal came on its second shot attempt of the game.  Jaurez-Manning's attempt came from the right side of the 18-yard box.

In the 15th minute, Denison had one its first scoring chances negated when Matt Rush's first touch inside the Otterbein 18 was cleared away by Cardinal goalkeeper, Collin Hoffmann.

With 16 seconds left in the first half, Denison's Luke Summers put a shot on goal that was saved by Hoffmann.

The Big Red had another strong scoring opportunity in the 63rd minute when first-year Braden Adamson got 1v1 with the keeper but sent his shot wide and to the left.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of Otterbein after a leaping save by Big Red keeper Dylan Brown on a shot by Tiger Pham.

One last gasp by the Big Red came with two minutes left in regulation.  Matt Rush sent a corner kick into the box where it was received by Keegan Lee but his shot missed wide and to the right marking the final shot of the night for DU.

Denison (1-5) held a 14-12 advantage in shots and Brown finished with five saves while facing six shots on goal.  Hoffmann posted two saves while playing all 90 minutes for Otterbein (3-1).

The Big Red won't return to the pitch until one week from today when they host Allegheny College at 2:30 p.m. from Barclay-Thomsen Field.
