GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Sophomore Luke Summers scored in the 23rd minute of play as the Big Red went on the road to defeat the Tigers of DePauw University, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Reavis Stadium in Greencastle, Ind.

Despite being outshot 5-4 in the first half, Denison made their third shot of the afternoon count at 22:17 when junior Ryan Albers found Summers for his second goal of the season and the first of the game to put DU up 1-0 in the opening frame.

Less than three minutes later, the Big Red looked to increase their lead off the foot of Matt Rush, but the junior's shot sailed high of the goal as DU stayed in front 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, Summers tallied the first two shots of the half, but consecutive saves from DePauw's Austin Bodner kept the Tiger deficit at 1-0.

In the final 10 minutes of play, DePauw's Sam Kramer and Grady Bruch had opportunities that went wide of the net, and the Denison defense held on as the Big Red earned their first conference win of the season, moving to 1-1 in NCAC play. The loss dropped DePauw to 7-2-2 overall, with a 1-1-1 record in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Rush and Summers combined for six of Denison's eight shots on the day, while Leo Herard and Keegan Lee each recorded one shot on goal. DePauw finished with seven shots, including three combined shots on goal from Kramer, Jay Klein, and Joe Scanlon.

In goal, sophomore Dylan Brown earned his third clean sheet of the season for DU while tallying three saves in 90 minutes of action. For DePauw, Bodner finished with five saves in a full match effort.

The Big Red will stay on the road next Wednesday, October 10 when they travel to Oberlin College for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Yeomen.
