MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Denison men's soccer team rattled off three goals in just under five minutes of play on Saturday, ending a four-match skid with a convincing 3-0 decision over Allgheny.
The Big Red capitalized on their third shot on frame when Vitor Rocha sent a corner kick that found defender Tucker Nuzum-Clark for the the opening score of the match. The score was the junior's first of the season and the second of his collegiate career. Nuzum-Clark's goal came in the 23rd minute of the match. Just under four minute later, Ethan Miracle netted his second goal of the season in the 28th minute.
The quick-strike offense continued 55 seconds later when Stuart Windell scored his third-career tally (first of the season) off an assist from Luis Zamora. Denison's offensive surge spanned four minutes and 50 seconds of game time.
DU outshot the Gators 25-11, including a a 10-5 advantage in shots on frame. The Big Red attempted 11 corners compared to four by Allegheny. Dylan Brown improved to 4-4-1 between the pipes behind a four-save performance, while Allegheny goalie Nick Ferreira suffered the loss after surrendering three goals and making five saves.
Denison (4-5-1, 1-1-0 NCAC) continues their three-match road trip next Saturday (Oct. 12) when they travel to Kenyon for a 3:30 pm kickoff.
