GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison men's swimming & diving honored 13 seniors on Saturday morning and followed that up with victories over Ohio Wesleyan and Division I Youngstown State. The Big Red handed the Battling Bishops a 232-43 loss and dispatched the Penguins, 227-49.
Denison put together a clean sweep in the tri-meet, placing first in all 16 events. Kymani Senior led all DU swimmers with four events wins. He placed first in the 50 fly (22.68) and the 25 free (9.76) and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay. Joining Senior on both winning relays was senior Christien Kelly. He swam second on the 200 medley relay and was the anchor on the 200 free relay that won with a time of 1:24.38.
Mitch Williams logged a pair of individual event wins, placing first in the 100 fly (51.02) and the 100 breaststroke (59.61). Matt Reed finished second in the 100 fly in 52.41 while Piotr Kurleto was the runner-up in the 100 breast.
Richie Kurlich was a multi-event winner as he won the 50 breast in 26.40 and the 50 free in 21.43. Klemptner touched second in the 50 free with a time of 22.08. Another pair of seniors, Sam Jo and PJ Desmet, finished 1-2 in the 50 backstroke in 24.61 and 24.76, respectively.
Denison diver Liam Simmons swept both boards, logging a six-dive score of 278.95 on the 1-meter board and a 218.75 on the 3-meter board.
The Big Red's next competition will be the 2020 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship which will take place on Feb. 12-15 at the Trumbull Aquatics Center. Denison's senior class consists of Gus Anderson, James Baker, Francis Biagioli, PJ Desmet, Eric Gerlach, Sam Jo, Christien Kelly, Ryan Klemptner, Matt McHugh, Matt Reed, Kymani Senior, Bebe Wang, and Mitch Williams.
