No. 25 Denison takes down OWU

DELAWARE, Ohio--  No. 25 Denison men's tennis picked up its first North Coast Athletic Conference West Division win of the season on Wednesday after a 7-2 win over Ohio Wesleyan.

Denison entered singles play with a 2-1 lead after wins by Tim Cianciola and Mitchell Thai (8-6) at No. 1 and the team of Kevin Brown and Brian Weisberg (6-3) at No. 2.

In singles action, the Big Red won five of six matches, all in straight sets.  Vlad Rotnov defeated Jack Hibbart, 6-2, 6-4 at No.1.  Thai topped Pako Alevizopoulos, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and Cianciola dispatched Omar Santiagonunez, 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 4, Brown knocked off Ben Stein, 6-2, 6-2 and Weisberg closed things out at No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Miller Buckholz.

Denison improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC West.  Ohio Wesleyan drops to 6-6 and 0-1 in conference divisional play.  The Big Red won't return to action until Monday, March 18 when they take on Tufts in Claremont, California.
