Denison men roll to 9-0 win over Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio--  The Big Red men's tennis team picked up its first North Coast Athletic Conference West Division win on Wednesday with a 9-0 victory at Wittenberg.

Denison's first point came at third doubles when John Purnode and Akshat Agarwal defeated Nathan Baulch and Kieren Thomas, 8-0.  Tim Cianciola and Mitchell Thai moved to 16-6 overall and 8-1 at first doubles after an 8-1 win.  Kevin Brown and Blake Burstein closed out doubles with an 8-5 win at No. 2.

Jacob Dennen won his first match at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 against Baulch.  Agarwal took care of Thomas, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 and Brown took out Timmy McNulty, 7-5, 6-3 in the fourth flight.

Flights 1-3 resulted in wins for Vlad Rotnov, Cianciola and Thai, respectively.

No. 26 Denison will close out NCAC West Division play this weekend when they host Wabash on Friday (April 12) and DePauw on Saturday (April 13).  The Wabash match will begin at 5 p.m. and the DePauw match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
