Big Red men's XC finishes second to Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio – Denison men's cross country placed four runners in the top-10, but the Big Red was unable to catch the Fighting Scots as DU finished in second place to the College of Wooster in the annual 5k dual race at the LC Boles Golf Course in Wooster, Ohio.

Leading the way for the Big Red was sophomore Adam Cromwell, who placed third overall out of 29 competitors with a final time of 17:06.8. Right behind Cromwell was senior Niall Clancey in fourth place who finished just 3.5 seconds behind his teammate after logging a 17:10.3.

Trailing Clancey by 2.1 seconds was junior Clayton Watters with a time of 17:12.4 in sixth place. Denison's remaining top-10 finisher belonged to Jack Marchetti who finished in ninth place after clocking in at 17:29.8.

Rounding out the DU scoring was freshman Keanan Ginell who finished in 11th place with a time of 18:26.7. He was followed by Kenny Connelly in 13th place (18:52.5) and Zackary Johnston finishing 16th overall (19:13.2).

Also competing for the Big Red was Rhys Fitschen-Brown (17th – 19:24.1), Henri Hegemier (24th – 20:55.6), Jacob Rains (25th – 21:01.9), and Calvin Riley (26th – 21:04.9).

Wooster's David Westcott finished the race in first place with a final time of 16:50.6.

Denison will return to the trails next Saturday, September 29 at the All-Ohio Championship hosted at the Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, Ohio.
