AKRON, Ohio -- Competing against 38 other teams and as a part of 324 total runners, the Denison men's cross country team placed 10th overall among NCAA Division III participant's at Saturday's All-Ohio Cross Country Championship hosted at the University of Akron. The Big Red finished just nine points behind ninth place Mount Union (256), while Otterbein University won the DIII competition with a total of 37 points.
Finishing with two runners in the top 75, senior Niall Clancey paced DU in 58th place with an 8k time of 25:36.2. Trailing Clancey by 11.2 seconds was sophomore Adam Cromwell and his 25:47.4 in 73rd place.
Junior Clayton Watters finished with the Big Red's third fastest time at 26:50.9 in 142nd place, while Jack Marchetti followed in 172nd after clocking in at 27:21.1. Racing for DU's fifth-best time, freshman Keanan Ginell (211th place) and junior Rhys Fitschen-Brown (212th place) were separated by 0.5 seconds, to finish with times of 28:12.1 and 28:12.6, respectively.
Denison will return to the race course on Saturday, October 13 at Oberlin College's Inter-Regional Rumble. The race is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
