SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Despite a fourth quarter comeback, Denison suffered a 69-56 loss to Wittenberg on Saturday at Pam Evans-Smith Arena.

Denison trailed by 19 entering the fourth quarter but with the defensive intensity turned up the offense came alive.  A 3-pointer by Lauren Turner with 7:04 to play in the game cut the deficit to 14 at 61-47.  That sparked a 10-0 run for the Big Red that lasted until Shonta Lockett's basket down low with 3:25 remaining.  Trailing by seven, Denison had two open looks from 3-point range on their next two possessions but both we off the mark. The Big Red was forced to foul the Tigers over the final 90 seconds and Wittenberg built its lead back to double digits.

Alison Schafer and Lauren Longbrake led Denison in scoring with eight points apiece.  Schafer also added four assists.  Lauren Hofer scored seven points and added four assists.

Wittenberg was led in scoring by Delaney Williams' 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting. She also paced the Tigers with six assists.  Alex Kiess added 11 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the free throw line.  Kristie Kalis paced the Tigers on the glass with 10 rebounds. She also chipped in eight points.

Denison shot 35 percent from the field and was 4-of-22 from long range.  The Tigers connected on 43 percent of its field goal tries and were 3-of-14 from 3-point range.  Wittenberg held a 36-30 advantage on the glass, but the Denison bench outscored the Tigers 30-25.

Denison drops to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.  They return to the court on Wednesday (Dec. 5) for a 6 p.m. tip-off from Livingston Gymnasium against Hiram College.
