GRANVILLE, Ohio – Highlighted by a top-five finish from senior Emmy Timberlake, Denison women's golf finished in a tie for third place after the final round of the 2019 Lynn Schweizer Invitational hosted at the Denison Golf Club in Granville.
After posting a two-day score of 659, the Big Red finished in a tie for third with Saint Mary's College who posted a second-round score of 325 to break into the top-three with Denison. Stevenson University tallied a weekend total of 655 to place second overall, while DePauw finished with a tournament-low 643 to claim the team championship.
Leading DU with a second-round score of 75, Timberlake finished in fourth place with a 157 (+15) through two rounds. Timberlake posted her best score of the weekend thanks to a pair of birdies on the sixth and 12th holes while hitting for par on 12 additional holes.
Freshmen Laine Hursh and Julia Shafir finished their first collegiate tournaments in a tie for 17th place after totaling scores of 165 through both rounds. Sophomore Sophia Alexander and junior Megan Wong joined the first-years in a five-way tie for 17th after finishing with a pair of 165's.
Denison will return to action next Saturday, Sept. 7 when they travel to Powell, Ohio to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Safari Fall Invitational hosted at the Columbus Zoo's Safari Golf Club.
