DELAWARE, Ohio--  Denison women's golf won its first tournament of the 2019-20 season after a first-place showing at the Ohio Wesleyan Fall Invitational held at Safari Golf Club.

The Big Red ran away from the field, winning by 53 strokes.  Denison's four top scorers occupied positions 1-4 on the overall leaderboard to finish at 593.  Denison's previous 36-hole low was 634 set at the Pat Clouse Invitational.

Emmy Timberlake earned medalist honors after playing 36 holes at one-over-par.  Timberlake fired an even-par 72 on Saturday and followed that up with a 73 on Sunday.  Her two-day total of 145 broke the program's 36-hole scoring record of 148 held by Brynn FitzGerald.

Megan Wong broke the Denison 18-hole scoring record on Sunday with a three-under-par round of 69.  The previous 18-hole record was 70, set by Anne Miller in 2017.

Third place went to first-year Laine Hursh who followed her 77 on Saturday with a 73 on Sunday.  Sophia Alexander fired an even-par 72, marking a new career low for the sophomore.

Denison's fifth score came from Megan Munn who tied for 21st overall with rounds of 88 and 82.  Julia Shafir played as an individual and posted rounds of 79 and 83.

The Big Red returns to action on Sept. 21-22 when they travel to Danville, Indiana for the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic hosted by DePauw University.
