ROME, Ga.-- Denison is only eight strokes out of the lead at the midpoint of the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational at Coosa Country Club.
The leaderboard is bunched up at the top with seven teams within eight shots of the lead entering the final day. Denison sits in eighth place after a team total of 312. Oglethorpe is the leader at 304 followed by Milligan (305), Berry (305), Shorter (306), Spring Hill (307), Birmingham-Southern (307), and Centre (308). Overall, 17 teams are competing at the event hosted by Berry College.
The Big Red was led by Laine Hursh who posted a two-over-par 74. Hursh birdied No. 9 to make the turn at even par. On the back, she posted birdies on No. 10 and No. 12.
Sophia Alexander followed with a four-over-par 76. She birdied the par-3 sixth hole and the par-4 18th.
Emmy Timberlake carded a round of 77 thanks to 13 pars and five bogeys. The Big Red got matching rounds of 85 from their No. 4 and No. 5 players Julia Shafir and Megan Munn to close out the scoring on Monday.
The Big Red is back in action on Tuesday at Coosa Country Club outside of Atlanta for the final round of the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational.
