CLEVELAND, Ohio – Denison women's golf was recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference for the fourth time this season as sophomore Sophia Alexander was named the NCAC Golfer of the Week after posting a top-10 performance this past week in Georgia.
Helping the Big Red secure a sixth-place finish at the 2019 Chick-fil-A Intercollegiate at the Coosa Country Club in Rome, Ga., Alexander led Denison on the second day of action with three birdies on the front nine to finish the round with a 77 (+5). She finished the tournament with a 153 and tied for 10th overall with teammate Laine Hursh.
Playing in all nine rounds this season for the Big Red, Alexander has posted a scoring average of 79.0 which included a new career-low 72 during the second round of the Ohio Wesleyan Fall Invitational (Sept. 8). She has also placed in the top-five twice this season for DU.
Ranked as the 22nd-best team in the latest Golfstat Division III Top-25, Denison women's golf closed out their fall season last week with four finishes in the top-three, including three-straight tournament victories at Ohio Wesleyan, DePauw, and Lourdes University.
