GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Denison's Abby King scored the equalizer with 1:46 left in regulation. Despite combining for 10 shots in the two overtime periods, the Big Red and Ohio Northern left Barclay-Thomsen Field with a 2-2 tie.
ONU tied the match in the 25th minute when Lauren Naso threaded a pass to Jenna Fuller who cashed in her second goal of the season.
The score remained tied into the waning minutes of the second half. The Polar Bears took their first lead of the contest in the 81st minute when Cienna Kuhn finished after two nifty passes from Caroline Goeller and Rose Nienaber.
With six minutes left in regulation, Denison goalie Patil Tcholakian made a nice save on a shot by ONU's Fuller. Tcholakian continued her outstanding play in goal for Denison as she finished her night with nine saves while playing all 110 minutes.
Finally, in the 89th minute of play, the Big Red knotted the score at 2-2. After a foul on ONU's Jerzy Zito gave Kelly O'Neill a free kick, her boot placed the ball in the box where King managed to score her second goal of the season.
In the first overtime period, Ohio Northern outshot the Big Red 4-3 but Denison held a 2-1 advantage in shots in the second. DU came close to a golden goal winner when Claire Kolff's shot had to be saved by Ohio Northern's Meagan Grierson in the 109th minute.
Denison (1-2-3) won the possession game, controlling the ball 56 percent of the time. ONU (2-1-2) held a 25-14 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.
The Big Red returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 14) when they travel to Centre College for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the 20th ranked Colonels.
