Women's soccer falls to #20 Centre

DANVILLE, Ky.--  Denison women's soccer suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 20 Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Centre took the lead in the 22nd minute when Alana Hughes successfully converted a penalty kick after a foul was called on the Big Red after a slide tackle in the box.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Colonels until the 60th minute when Meghan Paynter scored off a corner kick to give Centre a 2-0 lead.

The final goal came off a rebounded save by Denison goalkeeper Patil Tcholakian.  Mills Mullen converted the goal after a shot by Annie Stauffer.

Denison's Leland Keller provided a shot on goal early in the first half.  That shot was saved by Centre's Jonelle Barron.  Tcholakian finished with nine saves for the Big Red.

Denison will travel to Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana on Wednesday (Sept. 18) for a 7:30 pm. Match against the Grizzlies.
