LANSING, Mich.--  Denison went 1-1 on the second day of play at the NCAC/MIAA Crossover.  The Big Red defeated Trine, 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-17) after suffering a 3-1 loss to Alma in the morning match.  Denison returns to Granville with a 3-4 record entering their 2019 home opener against No. 23 Ohio Northern on Tuesday (Sept. 10).

Against Trine, DU got nine kills from Lucy Anderson and seven from Emma Woerner.  Anderson posted a .474 attack percentage against the Thunder.

In Saturday's opening match, Denison suffered a 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-23, 30-28) loss to Alma.

The Scots were convincing in the first set, winning 25-13, but the final three sets were tight and a 30-28 fourth-set clincher for Alma prevented a decisive fifth set.

Denison got an outstanding showing from four first-year's as Sidney Gossard and Lucy Anderson recorded 14 kills apiece.  Gossard hit .400 while Anderson posted a .278 attack percentage and a team-leading five blocks.  Jenna Corrao finished with 25 digs and rookie setter Sophie Tight set a new career-high with 43 assists while adding 15 digs.  Woerner added 12 kills.

Alma was led by Sara Majerle who finished with 26 kills.
