Denison women place sixth at CMU Invite

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Denison women's cross country earned a sixth-place finish on Saturday morning at the 2019 Carnegie Mellon Cross Country Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pa. Finishing with a team score of 174, the Big Red edged out seventh place Clarion (177) while finishing 33 points behind Indiana (Pa.) in fifth place (141). Duquesne captured the team championship with 56 team points and three runners in the top-10.

Placing three runners in the top-30, Denison was paced by sophomore Emily Willson who finished 23rd overall with a final time of 20:09.92. Senior Erin O'Connor trailed by less than nine seconds in 24th place after clocking in at 20:18.11. Junior Sarah Radziewicz rounded out DU' top-30 in 27th place at 20:23.30.

Freshman Carolyn Trent crossed the finish line at 20:57.44 to finish 43rd overall while Sydney Lerda took 57th place on a final mark of 21:15.50. Aileen Schretzmayer (62nd – 21:26.46) and Allie Holmes (68th – 21:51.82) also competed for the Big Red.

Denison will return to course next Saturday, Sept. 19 when they travel to Logan Township, N.J. to compete in the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University.
